Apple cider vinegar also wants to claim a place in your bathroom! Skin, hair: learn the precautions before adopting it.
In this first part of our series on apple cider vinegar, we’ll cover the basics and cosmetic uses.
Apple cider vinegar, a multitasking condiment
We can only recommend vinegar for daily use, and it comes in many forms! The white vinegar is, for example, an exemplary eco-friendly cleaner, especially when used with baking soda, another eco-friendly household product (but not only).
Also very popular, apple cider vinegar has benefited in recent years from renewed interest thanks to a few serious studies (and others less so). To some, it has earned an almost magical status. Nothing fantastical, though, but a beauty and health tip worth noting.
Without going so far as to claim that apple cider vinegar is a fountain of youth, or a miracle weight-loss cure, it joins the list of natural products with appreciated virtues, much like thyme, turmeric, aloe vera, or spirulina.
It’s a daily product well known to grandmothers whose benefits we will discuss.
How is apple cider vinegar made?
Not surprisingly, the process requires apples, but some make it directly from concentrated juice. The advantage of working directly with apples is to preserve the nutritional elements of the fruit and in particular the vitamins and minerals.
What does apple cider vinegar contain?
Apple cider vinegar naturally contains, from the apples and fermentation:
- des vitamins (A, B1, B2, C and P)

Consuming apple cider vinegar can thus help offset mineral deficiencies, among other benefits…
Which vinegar should you choose?
The best apple cider vinegar is organic and unfiltered. Most of the time, apple cider vinegar is used diluted, but you should remember to include the mother of the vinegar (the gelatinous biofilm) in preparations.
Apple cider vinegar in cooking
It’s very low in calories, yet adds a small, distinctive touch to many recipes. It flavors salads, endives, grated carrots, artichoke hearts with vinaigrette. It can also be added to a preparation, a tomato sauce, a fish dish.
Apple cider vinegar: cosmetic uses
While it proves useful in the kitchen and around the home, beneficial for health, apple cider vinegar also works wonders in cosmetics!
1. Anti-aging action for the skin
It can then be consumed or applied directly to the skin. Its properties make it a good anti-aging agent, which has sometimes earned this natural product a genuine reputation as a fountain of youth.

Without going as far as claiming it is a fountain of youth, its effects remain interesting, though not scientifically quantified.
Our simple recipe
Mix 1 tablespoon of honey with 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. Apply to the skin with a brush, then rinse with lukewarm water followed by cold water.
2. for shiny hair
Don’t overdo it, but rinsing hair with vinegar is a classic (half water, half vinegar). If the scent bothers you, add a few drops of a essential oil of your choice.
3. a remedy for eczema and acne
Use the diluted vinegar as a toner after cleansing.
4. for teeth whitening
Then rub the vinegar on the teeth before rinsing, and you can also use it as a mouthwash, all before brushing.
Apple cider vinegar also helps fight bad breath and can be paired with mint for this purpose (heat the two together in water).
5. for dandruff
Apple cider vinegar has the particular ability to cleanse the scalp and eliminate itching, effectively helping to fight dandruff. Apply the product directly to your hair and massage well at the roots so it penetrates. Leave on for an hour before rinsing thoroughly.

6. for foot odor
Feet are often very moist and serve as real bacteria nests, which partly explains their bad odor. Thanks to its antifungal and antiseptic properties, apple cider vinegar helps combat odors, but also warts…
To do this, soak your feet in a bath made of one part vinegar to four parts warm or cool water.
7. for cleaning makeup brushes
To avoid pimples and inflammation, remember to clean your makeup brushes frequently. For this, soak them in a glass of water with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Rinse well and lay flat to dry.
