Natural Treatment for Couperose and Rosacea

Ethan Hartwell | April 13, 2026

Let’s be frank: we’d rather not know at all what this is about! Yet it’s impossible to ignore, since rosacea seems to love popping up right in the middle of the face…

For your information: if your skin is sensitive, it’s even more exposed than others to the risks of rosacea, a delicate and flowery term for what is more commonly known as couperose. How can you prevent or, failing that, reduce the appearance of small red vessels on the nose, cheekbones, or cheeks?

Rosacea: Natural Treatment

First, it’s about protecting daily this thin, fragile skin from the various external aggressors: wind, sun, cold, dry air, abrupt temperature changes, pollution…

The minimum for this: a good daily moisturizer, paired with a solid sunscreen.

A tip for your day cream

Add 2 to 3 drops of essential oil of Italian Helichrysum, also known as “Immortelle,” into your face cream. You’ll benefit from its anti-inflammatory properties, especially if you are prone to rosacea.
Be mindful, however, of internal factors as well, which can equally harm your complexion.

Watch out for beverages that are too hot: they can sometimes strongly stimulate circulation and cause facial flushing. Let them cool slightly before sipping. Limit your intake of tea, coffee, and very spicy foods. Be wary of heavy meals.

Prevention rather than flushing…

If you can still, lean into prevention, first with an excellent drink:
Drink in the morning and at night a lukewarm infusion composed of 2 pinches of peppermint and 2 pinches of linden bark, morning and evening.

In terms of beauty care, absolutely avoid lotions that contain alcohol, exfoliants, and fumigations. All are far too harsh for delicate skin!

Yes, however, floral lotions, always gentle and respectful. Especially if you make them yourself! There’s of course rose water, but not only…

Easy to keep for 5 days in the fridge, these “homemade” toners are also great for soothing any facial skin inflammations.

Thermal Water

Another option as a refreshing and soothing gesture for fragile skin: keep a spray bottle of thermal water, ideally rich in trace minerals, on hand, and spritz your face frequently!

Natural Rosacea Treatment: Flowers That Bring Gentle Soothing…

Too late for prevention and those unsightly little red marks on your face? For a quick soothing remedy, drop 2 or 3 ice cubes into a glass of milk. Dip compresses or cotton pads into the milk and apply them to the rosacea-affected areas for a few minutes.

Here are two more compresses that skin that flushes easily will appreciate:

  • Let a tablespoon of wild pansies steep. Strain, wait for the infusion to cool, and use this lotion in compresses, several times a day if you wish.

Some plants, especially those that decongest the venous system, are also effective against rosacea. Once again, marshmallow is part of the mix:

  • Bring 15 g of marshmallow roots to a boil in 1 liter of water and let simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Dip compresses in this still-warm decoction, and apply them to the affected areas of the face.

Horsetail, linden flowers, rose petals, and also parsley all have emollient properties that help to calm redness. To enjoy, simply prepare as a decoction:

  • Pour a small handful of the chosen plant into about a cup of water, bring to a boil, and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Cover, wait for the decoction to cool, strain. There’s not much left but to apply… and place the remainder in a small bottle, in the fridge.

Also try witch hazel and sweet clover floral waters: soothing and balancing for all skin types, they help limit the spread of rosacea!

Two Masks to Conceal Rosacea!

If exfoliants and other peels are decidedly too harsh for already fragile skin, some masks can do them good:

Mash, or better, blend a generous tablespoon of blueberries with a small bowl of cottage cheese. Spread the resulting cream on your face, leave on for about twenty minutes, remove and rinse carefully with warm water.

Moisturizing and revitalizing, here’s another mask that suits all skin types, but is particularly recommended for those who suffer from rosacea:

  • Mash the flesh of half a ripe avocado;
  • Add 1 teaspoon of fresh tomato juice, and 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice;
  • Add two more drops of cypress essential oil;
  • Carefully mix everything.

Apply to the face, keep for 20 minutes and rinse with cold water. You can do this mask once a week.

One final tip for those who are minimalist with nighttime care or who enjoy making homemade creams or masks: used alone or with one drop of hel Игichrysum essential oil, tamanu oil (calophyllum oil) is your ally!
