Poll: How Much Time Do You Spend Online Each Day?

Ethan Hartwell | March 29, 2026

According to a study by NordVPN, the French spend eight hours a day online in one way or another—whether for communicating, working, learning, finding routes, shopping, or entertaining themselves! It’s less than their Spanish neighbors, but more than Germans or Britons… even though the methodology used carries a margin of error…

The Smartphone Is the Culprit

According to a study by the Médiamétrie institute, the Internet continues to attract more and more French people in 2024: 94% of households are now connected, up from 82% a decade earlier. Each day, 48.5 million Internet users spend an average of 2 hours and 40 minutes online, with 80% of that time on their smartphones, primarily on apps. The 15-24 age group spends 4 hours 21 minutes per day, but those over 65 keep pace with 1 hour 53 minutes (+82% compared to 2019). Games, streaming, and e-commerce are setting records, while conversational AI is already drawing one in five French people—12.2 million in total. That’s three times higher than in December 2023.

And you, how much time do you estimate you spend on your computer, tablet, or smartphone browsing the web?
