6 Natural Tips to Prevent Under-Breast Sweat in Summer

As temperatures rise, sweating under the chest area is likely to occur. This can cause a damp sensation and sweat marks that may be uncomfortable. While sweating is normal and even beneficial, there are some natural tips to help reduce this phenomenon.

Why do we sweat under the breasts?

Against apocrine glands, which don’t have a true thermoregulatory role, eccrine glands do have a real thermoregulatory function. If sweating is therefore desirable to help the body maintain its ideal temperature, this natural phenomenon isn’t always pleasant to experience, especially when it’s excessive due to hot weather. There are, however, natural solutions to limit sweating under the armpits, as well as under the breasts. Here are a few tips that will keep this area from becoming too damp, which can then lead to irritation or even fungal infections.

Tips to limit sweating under the chest when it’s hot

1 – Alum stone, a natural antiperspirant for the chest

The first tip to limit sweating under the breasts when it’s hot: apply a natural antiperspirant like alum stone. Marketed as a natural option, this antiperspirant helps avoid resorting to chemical formulations, whose long-term health impacts aren’t fully known. The alum stone works by reducing sweating through shrinking the sweat glands, thereby limiting sweat and the odors that may accompany it. However, alum stone isn’t as natural as people think, even though it has advantages. It should therefore be used sparingly.

2 – Argan oil to prevent sweating under the breasts

Another tip for preventing sweating under the breasts in summer is to apply argan oil under your bust. The formation of sweat droplets will be reduced by applying this oil rich in fatty acids. Additionally, argan oil, known for caring for hair, can help soothe irritation caused by excessive sweating in this area.

3 – Rice powder or white clay to absorb sweating of the breasts

To prevent sweating under the chest, you can also apply rice powder, which, in addition to softening the skin, will absorb moisture. Some also recommend baby talc for the same reasons, but this product marketed as natural can hide undesirable substances. Another suggested solution: apply ultra-fine white clay, which will also act as a purifier while absorbing moisture.

4 – The reusable anti-sweat bandeau to place under the breasts

Unlike disposable panty liners, there are reusable anti-sweat bandeaus to place under the breasts. This solution to be used in cases of excessive sweating may not be the most comfortable when it’s very hot. When temperatures are at their peak, it’s better to let your skin breathe by wearing unpadded bras and loose-fitting clothing made of natural fabrics.

5 – Loose, natural-fiber clothing to let the skin breathe

In summer, it’s best to favor clothing made from natural, more breathable fabrics, such as cotton, linen, and bamboo viscose. Notably, the latter, even more breathable than cotton, is also more absorbent and has antibacterial properties. This helps keep the skin dry while avoiding odors. Bamboo viscose is thus the ideal fabric to wear in hot weather.

6 – Unpadded bras to let the breasts breathe

Similarly, unpadded bras are preferable when it’s hot. Too thick, padded bras will promote sweating under the breasts. Prefer bras made from natural fibers, such as cotton or micro modal, a comfortable fabric for summer wear. An organic cotton bra, for example, is even better for the skin and the planet! “Second-skin” bras are also best suited to hot weather, as they hold the breasts more securely and help prevent rubbing against the skin.
